How can one safely sterilize / clean the covering of a face cloth?

A washing machine should suffice to wash a face cover properly.

  Things We Need

  • Sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Two 10”x6” rectangles of cotton fabric
  • Two 6” pieces of elastic
  • Needle and thread

Method For Cloth Face

1. Slice out two 10-by-6-inch cotton fabric rectangles. Use tightly woven cotton, such as cotton sheeting or quilting fabric. T-shirt fabric is about to work in a pinch. Stack the two rectangles; sew the mask as if it were just a single piece of fabric.

2.Fold in 1⁄4 inch and hem over the long sides. Then fold the fabric over a 1⁄2 inch double layer along the short sides and stitch it down.

3.Run a 1/8 "wide elastic 6-inch length through the wider hem on either side of the mask. Those are going to be the ear loops. To thread it through use a large needle or bobby pin. Tie the tight ends.

Aren't elastic? Use elastic head bands or hair ties. You can make the ties longer if you only have string, and tie the mask behind your head.

4. Pull gently onto the elastic to tuck the knots inside the hem. Collect the mask sides on the elastic, and adjust the mask to fit your face. Then stitch the elastic securely in place to prevent it slipping.
